NBC -- The 911 call has been released in the Glynn County, Georgia tragedy from Tuesday afternoon.

A 21-year-old woman called 911 Tuesday morning and told authorities she drowned her 4-year-old daughter and 2-year-old son then shot herself in the chest, according to police in Glynn County.

Around 10 a.m., Julia Murray called 911 asking for an ambulance "because she had drowned her two children," according to a statement from the Glynn County Police Department.

Police who reported to the scene in the 300 block of Baumgardner Road found Murray in one room with a gunshot wound to the chest, unresponsive but breathing. A handgun was found near Murray's body and police said it likely was the weapon used.

A 2-year-old boy was in another room, breathing; Ansli Murray, her daughter, was in the same room but not breathing.

Here is part of the 911 call:

911 Dispatcher: "What's the problem, ma'am?"

Murray: "I just killed my two kids."

911 Dispatcher: "What's your name, ma'am?"

Murray: "Julia Murray."

911 Dispatcher: "Julia, are you with me?"

Murray: "No, I just shot myself."

911 Dispatcher: "You just shot yourself? With what?"

Murray: "A gun. Please hurry."

Murray was calm as she told the dispatcher she killed her two children by drowning them. Neighbors who knew Murray said she was a nice, quiet person and a young mom at 21-years-old.

Murray lived in the home with her mother and two children. Police said the children's father doesn't live in the home. "I felt that was so sad. So very, very sad," said neighbor Kay Novak.

"I was just told by staff the grandmother had legal custody of the two children. I don't know why I don't know what the circumstances are," said Glynn County Police Chief Matt Doering.

Murray and her two children were taken to Southeast Georgia Health System Brunswick Hospital by the Glynn County Fire Department EMS squad. The 2-year-old, Creighton, is still there and stable; his mother and sister were pronounced dead around 12:30.

The investigation is by the Criminal Investigation Division of the County Police is ongoing.

Why do you keep poking me?

Horrible. Pure Evil. Now the boy has to live with this the rest of his life. Imagine growing up dealing with the fact that your mother killed your sister, herself, and left you for dead. At least at two, he likely hasn't developed enough to remember the event, but damn, I would imagine the dreams would be even worse.

"It is only when the people become ignorant and corrupt, when they degenerate into a populace, that they are incapable of exercising their sovereignty. Usurpation is then an easy attainment, and an usurper soon found. The people themselves become the willing instruments of their own debasement and ruin." - James Monroe

Man, Glynn County... I don't know what's in the water over there, but all sorts of crazy stuff happens there.

ETA:  Found this on Wikipedia re: Glynn

It is home to seventeen identified hazardous waste sites, six actively polluting industries, and four Superfund  sites.[4]

The Hanlin Group, Inc., which maintained a facility named "LCP Chemicals" in Glynn County just outside the corporate limits of Brunswick, was convicted of dumping 150 tons of mercury into Purvis Creek, a tributary of the Turtle River and surrounding tidal marshes between the mid-1980s and its closure in 1994. Two executives were sentenced to prison time over the incident.

The LCP facility had been declared a Superfund site when it closed in 1994 and was already under scrutiny by the EPA when Service biologists discovered mercury poisoning in endangered wood storks on St. Simons Island. Fish, shellfish, crabs, and shrimps taken in coastal waters as well as other bird species also contained the toxic metal. The Service traced the source of the contamination to the LCP plant and documented the extent of the damage to wildlife resources–an effort that resulted in the addition of Endangered Species Act charges to those that would be brought against Hanlin and its officers. On August 29, 2009, the county suffered the worst mass murder in Georgia state history, when seven individuals were found dead at a trailer in New Hope Mobile Home Park. Two others were critically injured, one of them dying later in hospital.Guy Heinze Jr has been charged in the killings and is currently awaiting trial.
