While I can't gauge what her intelligence really is in person, I've found most of her public speaking atrocious. Sure, the CBS interview was edited. But her resignation speech, the vp debate (not that Biden isn't a gaffe machine too), and the presentation to which we are now referring are all perfect examples of situations in which she came off as less-than-savvy, to say the least. If you watched the full speech she gave at the National Tea Party convention (particularly the q&a section) -- she LOOKED DIRECTLY AT HER HAND while answering a question. Literally mumbled some random filler words while she looked at her hand, like a kid cheating on an exam, then proceeded to say a sentence that included the catch phrase. It was terrible. There is nothing in a presentation like that which suggests she is ready to operate at the political level to which she aspires. Watching her speak in situations which require her to think on her feet, without rehearsed lines, is painful. She really does resemble Miss South Carolina in that regard.
She might be better in person, or as an executive (after all, she was very popular as governor of Alaska); but she certainly doesn't come off as a convincingly astute political mind in anything I've seen publicly.
This has nothing to do with my opinion of her ideas. She's really just not in the same class (yet) as some of the better conservative minds out there, whether it be Geingrich (sp?), Kristol, Sowell, or others.
