video cards

I just bought GTA IV yesterday, and after 10 minutes of playing it freezes my computer.

I currently have:

ATI Radeon X1900XTX 512MB
Duo Core E6600 2.4GHZ
2GB Corsair RAM
Windows XP home SP3

My specs should be ok for the game, but even at low settings (except I keep it at 1600 X 1050) on a Viewsonic 20.1" LCD.

Over there they are recommending the the Radeon 4850.

$100 for the 512mb $130 for the 1GB. I'd probably lean towards the 1GB since I already have a 512. Any other cards I should consider in that range, or will I just be getting something of simlar performance for that price range? Brand doesn't matter. IIRC GTA:SA liked Nvidia, however my ATI worked just fine with it.

I read various postings about GTA IV and problems with the ATI 1900 series cards. Even with the latest patches for both the video card and game its still the same. Some complained about no car damage but it works fine for me.
